Team Chikara Prepare for Welsh Karate Championships

Students from ourinternationally respected Chikara Dojo of Kyokushin Karate, based in Spennymoor Co. Durham, are preparing for the Kyokushin Full Contact Welsh Championships to be held in Barry, South Wales in early May.

They will take part in kata (pre arranged attack and defensive moves) and full contact, knockdown fighting.

What is Knockdown Karate?

In a full contact knockdown competition fights are won by knocking an opponent out or down. In the adult events, body protection is not normally worn. The event can last all day, with fighters competing against several combatants throughout the course of the day

“Our students have been preparing for this event for some time. We always do well when we attend competitions and I am sure this one will be no exception. I am looking forward to seeing members of Team Chikara do what they do best,” commented 1st Dan Instructor, Connor Colledge, who will also be competing.

Team Chikara are always looking for sponsorship to attend events such as this. If you would like to make a donation any support would be greatly appreciated.
