Kyokushin Karate

I.K.O.N

Kyokushin is a style / system of Stand-Up Full Contact Karate, founded in 1964 by Korean-Japanese Masutatsu Oyama.

Kyokushin in Japanese means "The Ultimate Truth". The Kanji (Japanese characters) calligraphy, worn universally on the front of the gi, simply means "Kyokushinkai", which is the name given

by Sosai Mas Oyama to the karate style he created. It is composed of three characters.

Kyoku meaning "Ultimate".
Shin meaning "Truth" or "Reality".
Kai meaning "Society" or "Association".

Kyokushin is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training.

True Karate is based on Bushido.

In true Karate, the Body, Mind and Spirit 'the Whole Person' must be developed simultaneously. Through Kihon, Kumite and Kata we learn to control our movements.

Why Chikara Dojo?

Here at Chikara Karate Dojo we live and practice the teachings of Sosai Mas Oyama and his Knockdown style of Kyokushin Karate.

Through self-discipline and hard training, we strive to perfect both body and mind turning them into powerful tools for everyday life. By perfecting both the body and mind together you can turn yourself into the perfect tool for everyday life.

Both mentally and physically.

Character

At the Chikara Dojo, we aim to teach our students the moral values too often missing in today’s society. We place great emphasis on respect for parents, family and friends, teachers, the law, senior citizens, peoples’ property and perhaps most importantly for themselves.

The etiquette and code of conduct required in classes is of a very high standard and the students quickly learn self-discipline. This can be seen in the excellent manners of even our youngest students.

Results

We aim to develop good characters in our students, the result of which will show in their attitude at home and in school. Bullying in any form is not tolerated and any student found to be bullying will be severely dealt with.

Our aim is to provide a safe, disciplined, fun way of learning Kyokushin Karate as a true Martial Art to help our students grow into mature, well mannered individuals with the hope that we can help build a better community.
